Hello and Welcome
I’m Amelie, I am a mother of two, a Birthlight yoga teacher for fertility, pregnancy and the postnatal period, and IAIM-qualified baby massage instructor.
My passion is to help women like you feel more relaxed, at ease in body and mind and confident as you journey towards conception and into motherhood. To help you gain trust and understanding of your body. And discover simple but effective and enjoyable ways to look after yourself and your baby at this unique and often challenging or overwhelming time of your life. .
Having practiced classical and contemporary dance from a very young age, I first came to yoga in my late twenties as a different form of exercising my body, focusing on the physical work (postures) only to maintain and improve my alignment, physical strength and flexibility.
However, it was during my first pregnancy that I truly connected with yoga, and its true essence – connection. Yoga not only helped me to feel good and to enjoy my pregnancy, but also to connect with the power of breathing (which I had never paid attention to before!) and with my unborn baby. A few months down the line, It was again yoga that helped me reconnect with myself (and my new body) as a new mother. And then to connect and gain confidence with my baby through baby yoga practices. It was this truly transformative experience that led me to leave my career in the corporate world and retrain as a baby yoga and maternity yoga instructor.
I undertook my yoga training with the wonderful Birthlight, and YogaMama. Birthlight pioneered ‘baby yoga’ as it is known and widely practised today, and has been at the forefront of selecting, adapting and developing practices in yoga for pregnancy, yoga for labour and birth and yoga for the postnatal period that are safest and most suitable for women at this period of their lives, based on 30 years of research and teaching. I had the honour and privilege of training under the tutelage of Birthlight’s founder, Francoise Freedman, who developed most of Birthlight practices.
As for baby massage, I trained as an instructor with the International Association of Infant Massage UK, another pioneering and renowned institution in the field of baby massage (its founder Vimala McClure brought baby massage to the Western world in the 1970s) It is a genuine delight and privilege for me to accompany women and parents at the precious time of expectancy, pregnancy, birth and the early days of parenthood, and I hope I get the pleasure of meeting you soon. Amelie x
